Advanced Heroquest Home Page

So back in 1989 Games Workshop teamed up with MB Games and released Heroquest and it was a worldwide smash hit becoming one of the most beloved Dungeon Crawlers of all time. So what next for them? Release an advanced version of their game firmly rooted in their IP's world, after all Heroquest taking so much influence from Warhammer's world that it could be argued it was set in it anyway.

But I have a sneaky suspicion that originally Advanced Heroquest (here on called AHQ) had nothing to do with the original Heroquest and was an entirely different beast. When HQ made it big GW decided to slap the Heroquest brand on it and call it Advanced Heroquest. I have no proof of course just a suspicion as I said.

So what can you expect from AHQ? CHARTS! Lots and lots of CHARTS! It differs greatly from Heroquest, which had a fixed room layout to a random dungeon generator using CHARTS! Also gone and the nice and varied monsters all replaced with Skaven. There are profiles though included for lots and lots of other beasties. You have to buy the models separate though.

Is it any good? I love it but I can understand why people wouldn't like it. Its the Dark Souls of boardgames. If you are a player prepare to die. A lot..
